Smoke In The Dark - Grand Champions Three years running.

Two Fat Larry's - Reserved Grand Champions

Fort Defiance Park, overlooking the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers is a great place to have a contest. Power, water, smoke, food, friends, weather, and shade trees make this an exceptional site and event. David (Bear) Woods, Mike Ford and Debbie Allen worked non-stop to please everyone. Need a golf cart or anything, they had it. This contest was dedicated to the memory J. R. Littlejohn; a retired game warden that was one of the founding contest organizers. All proceeds will go to the JDSM Foundation which is a Nursing Scholarship Foundation that provides 5 nursing scholarships; 1 in each of the states of TN, ILL, MO and 2 in the state of Kentucky.

Friday night was the Anything But and Sauce contest, followed with a dinner, served by the Mary-Kay brigade (Melinda Ford, Courtney, Whitney, Christie, Angie, Joe & Sharon Barber) who fed all that were hungry. J-Mack cooked ham, Doug Feil cooked turkey, Burk with backwoods team cooked tenderloin, and others provided all the fixin's. Mama Feil and Melinda Ford did a hula dance for all as entertainment, and there were many nurses on hand to do what they do best. The Memphis ladies took the party to their room for margaritas and to show off the antiquated room, circa (1930), especially the bell ringing bed.

The next morning the Mary-Kay brigade served sausage biscuits and coffee for teams and judges. Total prize money was $7500. Anything butt winners were Dale's Rib Snortin BBQ and 2nd went to Two Fat Larry's. J-Mack Cookers won 1st in chicken (180) followed by Haulin But BBQ and Two Fat Larry's. Smokin in the Dark got 1st in ribs (180) followed by Piggin & Grinnin (180) and Dales Rib Snortin BBQ. Pork category was won by Haulin But BBQ, 2nd went to Good Ole Boys and 3rd Smokin in the Dark. 1st in Brisket went to Two Fat Larry's with a 180, and 2nd going to Smokin in the Dark followed by J-Mack Cookers. The overall winner Smokin in the Dark has received Grand Champion here for the last 3 years, congratulations to you! Two Fat Larry's received Reserve Grand Champion and a big congratulations to you Larry and Jenny!

This is a contest to put on your list for next year. Thanks to Mike, Bear, and Debbie for a good time.
